What a trip,I actually got to do Manuel and Manuel Jr.'s Head shots in their showroom in the middle of fashion week---GOD BLESS FOREVER KELLY CUTRONE!! MANUEL is a warm and super-savy GENUIS!!
Also at the show was TANYA TUCKER......A WOMAN! who grabbed LIFE by the -------Horns and LOVED "IT" ALL.
The show was sooo much fun and fun is so rare during fashion week.

HEART TRUTH RED DRESS

This event was a madhouse,it is truly a wonder that someone wasn't crushed or had a heart attack(NICE,RIGHT?)
The photographers were crammed into holding pens(you are in #a,...you go to #b...and wait and wait until forever and until the photographers just pushed their way in knocking each other with booms and steel boxes and ladders and camera's with long, long lens'.The security and the bubble-headed p.r.people just watched it all unfold tsk tsking at it all but not helping to diffuse the situation which was so frustrating---everyone allowed to get so anxious about getting into the event and setting up before it started. It takes so much to complete the "PUZZLE" in which each photographer has a tiny, tiny space for themselves and their equipment....and then has to be out of the range of the most important video camera for the house, then you have to NOT be in the pre-marked space of the most IMPORTANT photographers spot but even that does not always work beacause the runway sometimes is split reducing the viable space by half.It is a nightmare and the waiting becomes a very stressful ,agonizing stretch of time,Tempers flare and sometimes a kind word or gesture would help---but there is usually only dismissal or scarcasm and certainly never any sympathy or help from security or the 7th on 6th staff who seem in awe of their power and control with the most ego-centric attitudes.
This year I learned that in the TRULY HIGH FASHION WORLD of Milan there are 80 photographers,in Paris there are 150 and in N.Y. credentials are given to over 604,just about anyone who can come up with the money I guess---this was told to me by the very disgusted, photographer from ITALIAN VOGUE--the most prestigious of all fashion periodicals(along with Paris Vogue)
There is no thought to comfort or safety for us during fashion week--it is sink or swim or as some put "you can be replaced by an intern.."

FASHIONLAND

This week starting February 6th was fashion week in N.Y. I worked almost non stop for Paper magazines website.
Starting with an early morning show on the day before at Ports which of course had to be all the way on the west side or let me put it this way a $11 cab ride--I guess it was worth it,anyway I am slowly but surely going to write about the horror stories of this week alhough I must clarify everything by saying I consider it a huge privilege to be able to sit amongst the craziest, egotistical prima donna photographers each and everyone of them more important than anyone on the face of this earth(at least in their own rattled minds).
The first photo I am putting up is the cover of FASHIONLAND,a magazine put together by JAKE TOREM,MYSELF,JEFFREY SLONIM and DREW ELLIOT--this season.
We had intended for it to be in the gift bags at the HEATHERETTE show but it came late the last day of fashion week ;a little later I'll tell that story which turned out--PERFECTLY A.O.K.!
